These simple wooden ornaments are made from structural timber salvaged from the historic John Abell Factory before it was demolished to make way for new condo developments. The 19th century farm implement factory had been home to over 80 live/work studio artist spaces. 48 Abell st., along with other heritage buildings like the Drake and Gladstone Hotels, have been instrumental in redefining and revitalizing the area, giving it great potential as a heritage district.
These ornaments balance the patina of age with clean, simple shapes and straightforward, high quality construction. An uncomplicated, rugged, leather band frames each piece and provides a loop for hanging.
Each ornament is unique, but all are roughly 3.5 inches x 3.5 inches.
